Holy Apostles College and Seminary was honored recently to host Archeparch Menghesteab Tesfamariam, MCCJ, at the Cromwell, CT campus. His Excellency is Metropolitan Archeparch of Asmara, the capital city of Eritrea.
Archeparch Tesfamariam spoke with HACS faculty on Thursday, September 17, and with students the following day. His powerful testimony strengthened understanding of the state of the Church in Eritrea and the importance of standing firm against adversity in pursuing Christ’s mandate to preach the Gospel to all peoples.
His Excellency also shared a copy of the pastoral letter that he and the other three Eritrean eparchs published last year concerning the state of the situation in their country. The Roman Catholic Church is the second largest denomination in the country, following the Orthodox Church, and observers note that Archeparch Tesfamariam wields particular influence.
Holy Apostles extends its deep gratitude to the Archeparch for sharing his time, teaching and perspectives with our community.
