In Loving Memory of Dr. Richard Geraghty

July 27, AD 2017

We share the following from the Holy Apostles administration, regarding the passing of Dr. Richard Geraghty.

With great sadness, the Holy Apostles College & Seminary community announces the passing of Dr. Richard Geraghty, who has served Holy Apostles for several years as an online Professor of Philosophy In addition to his presence among our community, Dr. Geraghty has taught at St. Joseph House of Studies as well as hosted numerous television programs for EWTN since 1999.

Professor emerita, Dr. Ronda Chervin writes:

“I met Dr. Richard Geraghty in the 1980’s when we were both teaching at St. John’s Seminary of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.  He was a most popular professor for his clear, easy to understand, way of teaching Thomistic philosophy and his rollicking, utterly unique, way of mixing in Queens, New York, street kid blunt humor.  You can get a sense of his personality from his YouTube series on Plato’s Republic . He taught for the last 18 years the seminarians of the Franciscans at EWTN .  His book Plato’s Republic: The Right Way to Live, originally published by CMJ Marian Publishers, is being reprinted by En Route Books and Media, as well as his book on Aristotle’s Ethics and his masterpiece – a popularization of Newman’s famous Grammar of Assent.”

We are truly thankful for the gift of Dr. Geraghty service to our community and to the Church abroad. He will be greatly missed.

V. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
R. And let the perpetual light shine upon him.

And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
