Intercultural Competencies Workshops

June 19, AD 2017

Please note the following message from Dr. Sebastian Mahfood:

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the first disciples of Christ – missionary disciples – engaged in the art of intercultural competencies. We, too, are participants in that kind of grace with all the work we do with colleagues and students from such diverse backgrounds as are found in Asia, Central and South America, Europe, Africa and Australia.

What makes Holy Apostles College & Seminary special? We are increasingly globalizing, and for that, we need the assistance of the Holy Spirit, who has brought us an opportunity in the form of a grant from the Association of Theological Schools.

This coming academic year – 2017-2018 – we are going to engage as a community in coming to understand the mechanics of intercultural competencies with the help of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Office of Cultural Diversity’s Intercultural Competencies workshop developed by Fr. Allan Deck, SJ. For the workshop modules, see http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/cultural-diversity/intercultural-competencies/

Beginning in the fall, a number of these workshops will be held, each geared toward certain segments of the HACS community. Of particular interest to alumni will be four live spring webinars, one each month from January through April, building on data drawn from the fall workshops.

More information will be available as the workshop dates approach. Please plan on taking advantage of these important learning experiences.
