Unforgettable Pilgrimage to Spain and Portugal March 19 – 29, 2020

Join Holy Apostles’ Alumnus Shaun McAfee along with Jonathan Blevins, and your spiritual chaplain Fr. Anthony Sciarappa to the many Holy sites of Portugal and Spain!

The Camino of St. James has a rich pilgrimage tradition, as does the Sanctuary and site of Our Lady of Fatima. These are two of Spain’s most popular pilgrimage destinations, but there are numerous others and some well-kept secrets, too. The “bleeding host” of St. Steven’s Church in Santarem, the Abbey of Santa María la Real de Las Huelgas, and the Basilica of the Pillar in Zaragoza remain the region’s most cherished places for religious renewal and respite, offering pilgrims the chance of a lifetime to walk in the footsteps of the saints and the Catholic Faith.

In March 2020, best-selling author Shaun McAfee is hosting a special pilgrimage with numerous hand-picked stops along the route. Enormous gothic cathedrals, apparition and miracle sites, hermitages and monasteries are all gathered together on a 10-day adventure through Portugal and Spain. The event will take place with daily Mass and devotions along the way, site seeing, and opportunities to try the local food!

Travelers will have no stress as the itinerary will include professional tour guides, excellent lodging, deluxe stagecoach, breakfast and dinner, admissions, and round trip transportation from JFK (or other city upon request) are all included in the package. The entire event is managed and directed by Canterbury Pilgrimages, the most trusted name in Catholic pilgrimages

Jennifer Kuchemba-Hunter, MA in Philosophy, 2016, recently published “Compassion and Community in Perinatal Palliative Care: Understanding the Necessity of the Patient Perspective through Narrative Illustration,” in the Journal of Palliative Care in February 2019.
Jennifer is currently a doctoral student in the Bioethics program at Loyola University Chicago to be completed December 2019 and specializing in Catholic Bioethics and Public Health Ethics.

Nancy E. Martin, MA in Theology, 2013, just released a new book on July 1, 2019 called, Servant of God Gwen Coniker: God Leads, Faith and Trust Follow. This compelling story is an inspiration and example to others of how to live a holy and faithful marriage in a world where marriage has been diminished, where life was chosen in a world where life is no longer valued, all in the midst of the trials of raising 12 living children and founding and running an Apostolate to catechize others in the faith so as to lead others toward their heavenly home.

Nancy Martin is a wife and mother of five who has a passion for the Catholic Faith. She has developed and led many varied ministerial efforts and has taught classes on Consecration to Our Lady via the St. Louis de Montfort charism both online and in the classroom.

Let us join together in wishing Jennifer and Nancy a warm congratulations. Congratulations! You are both in our prayers.

Twelve Promises of Jesus to Saint Margaret Mary

June is pretty peaceful here at Holy Apostles. The busyness of the school year has slowed down. Students and Professors are on break and have gone back to their home towns. It is truly a perfect time to slow down and focus on the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

I thought that sharing the 12 promises of Jesus to Saint Margaret Mary would help you to enjoy this beautiful month of June full of change, peace, birds, flowers, and renewed birth. Let us devote ourselves to the Sacred Heart of our Lord in order to bring his promises to our ourselves, our families, friends, priests, sisters, sinners, and all the souls in need of peace.

Enjoy the beginning of your summer! May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be with you now and always. God Bless, Karen Roche Director Of Alumni

In the apparitions to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Jesus gives these twelve promises for those who are devoted to His Sacred Heart.

  1. I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
  2. I will establish peace in their families.
  3. I will console them in all their troubles.
  4. They shall find in My Heart an assured refuge during life and especially at the hour of their death.
  5. I will pour abundant blessings on all their undertakings.
  6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source of an infinite ocean of mercy.
  7. Tepid souls shall become fervent.
  8. Fervent souls shall speedily rise to great perfection.
  9. I will bless the homes where an image of My Heart shall be exposed and honored.
  10. I will give to priests the power of touching the most hardened hearts.
  11. Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be effaced.
  12. The all-powerful love of My Heart will grant to all those who shall receive Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under my displeasure, nor without receiving their Sacraments; My heart shall be their assured refuge at that last hour.
